Did Elmhurst Man Try To Poison Neighbor's Dogs?

The man has been in trouble with law enforcement before.

ELMHURST, IL – A resident in the 400 block of Van Auken Street in Elmhurst told officers this week that her neighbor threw steaks into her yard toward her dogs, police said.

She suspected the steaks may have been poisoned.

The neighbor, a 67-year-old man, admitted to throwing the steaks, but denied poisoning them, police said.

The incident occurred early Monday evening. The man was cited on an illegal dumping charge.

He has gotten in trouble with the law before.

In March, police said he scratched the hood of a woman's car using broken glass in the middle of the day in the 200 block of North York Street.

In October 2023, police said the man banged on a woman's front door in his block and damaged her screen and Halloween decorations. He was found and refused to follow officers' commands, police said.

In both cases, he was charged with criminal property damage.
