Domestic Battery In North Elmhurst Neighborhood: Cops

In another case, a man was arrested on a DUI charge after crashing, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving domestic battery, a DUI crash, a suspicious person and fraud. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Domestic battery

  • A 68-year-old Belvidere resident was arrested about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 500 block of North Indiana Street on a domestic battery charge. Police said the person admitted to striking another person. The person was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

DUI crash

  • A 33-year-old Carol Stream man was arrested about 2 p.m. Monday at Route 83 and North Avenue on charges of DUI (drugs) and failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash. He was taken to the police department and then released.

Suspicious person

  • Police said they responded to a report of a suspicious person about 1 p.m. Monday near Butterfield Road and Euclid Avenue. The person was homeless. Officers contacted DuPage PADS, a homeless shelter, and offered resources.

Fraud

  • A person at Elmhurst University, 190 S. Prospect Ave., responded to an email March 21 and sent money through the Zelle app for an item that the person never received.
