Donation Scam Outside Elmhurst Store: Cops
In another case, a campus safety trainee left during his shift and never returned, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a donation scam, theft, assault, retail theft, DUI, a dog bite, a shattered window and domestic battery. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Donation scam
- A woman gave numbers for two credit cards about 5 p.m. Nov. 4 to two suspects purportedly collecting donations outside Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83. She later discovered fraudulent charges on her cards. An investigation is pending.
Theft

- Elmhurst University, 190 S. Prospect Ave., told police Wednesday that a campus safety trainee left during his shift on Dec. 17 and never returned to work. He took the university's equipment and failed to return phone calls. An investigation is pending.
Co-worker blamed
- An employee at Salt Creek Elementary School, 980 S. Riverside Drive, told police Monday that a co-worker had taken money out of his backpack while he was at work. An investigation is pending.
Assault

- A 38-year-old Elmhurst man who lives in the 600 block of West Fay Avenue was arrested about 3:30 p.m. Monday on a DuPage County Sheriff's Office warrant charging assault. Police came into contact with the man during a domestic disturbance call.
Retail theft
- Brandon M. Sounhein, 24, of Sugar Grove; Quantez L. Jennings, 20, of Willowbrook; and Cory D. Mondy, 21, of Chicago, were arrested about 10 p.m. Tuesday at Jewel, 944 S. York St., on charges of felony retail theft. Police said the men stole 25 bottles of alcohol. They were taken to the DuPage County Jail.
- A person was seen on camera concealing merchandise and leaving about 7 p.m. Sunday at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83. The store reported the theft after reviewing the footage the next day.
DUI
- A 40-year-old Hoffman Estates man was arrested about 2 a.m. Wednesday at Shell gas station, 218 E. Butterfield Road, on a DUI charge. Police said the driver was asleep behind the wheel. He was taken to the police station and then released.
Dog bite
- A woman was bitten on her arm by her German shepherd about 7:30 a.m. Monday in the 400 block of East Atwater Avenue. She was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.
Shattered window
- A person was seen throwing several objects and shattering a window about 11 p.m. Sunday at Elmhurst Hospital, 155 E. Brush Hill Road. The damage was reported the next morning. Charges are pending.
Domestic battery
- A person told police that a woman ran to say a man had beaten her up. The woman ran away after the man saw her. Officers were unable to find the woman or man. The incident occurred about 9:30 p.m. Monday in the 400 block of St. Charles Road. Police listed the case as domestic battery.
Disturbance
- Officers responded to a disturbance shortly before noon Wednesday at Starbucks, 164 N. York St. The suspect was served with a no-trespass notice.
