Downtown Elmhurst To Get New Restaurant

The chain started two years ago in another Chicago suburb. It has since expanded to eight other states.

ELMHURST, IL – A 2-year-old corn dog restaurant chain that started in Glenview is planning a downtown Elmhurst location.

Kong Dog is set for 113 E. Schiller St., where a Subway once was.

According to the chain's website, it has 27 restaurants in nine states – Illinois, Indiana, Pennsylvania, New York, Massachusetts, North Carolina, New Jersey, Rhode Island and Virginia.

The website says the Elmhurst location is coming soon, but it does not give a date. Patch left a message with the company through the site.

The Glenview restaurant opened in September 2021.

"Through word of mouth, people soon began lining up to try a new twist on an old favorite – The Corn Dog," the chain says on its website. "Soon after, the Kong Dog team realized they had something special on their hands & decided to carry the momentum by opening new locations."

The chain said it hopes to open more than 200 locations in five years.
