Driver Realizes He's Too Drunk to Keep Driving: Police

The Bellwood man knocked on the door of a home and asked to use a phone.

Elmhurst, IL — A Bellwood man was driving through Elmhurst around 11:55 p.m. June 24 when he realized he was too drunk to keep going.

Antonio Howard, 27 of the 3500 of Jackson Boulevard in Bellwood, stopped his car at Spring and McKinley and knocked on the door of a home and asked to use a phone, according to Elmhurst police.

Howard was arrested and charged with felony aggravated DUI, illegal transportation of alcohol, driving with a suspended license and operating an uninsured car, police reported.

He was taken to DuPage County Jail.
