"It is believed the suspect was walking in the complex and randomly encountered the victims as they were leaving their apartment," Schref said. "The victims were able to retreat inside the apartment, closing their door on the suspect's arm holding the knife. The knife dropped, but the suspect eventually entered. Fortunately, the victims were not harmed, and police took the suspect into custody."
