Elmhurst Alderman Slated For Promotion

He is set to lead a committee that handles zoning matters.

ELMHURST, IL – An Elmhurst alderman has been appointed to lead the City Council's committee that deals with zoning issues.

Mayor Scott Levin has tapped Alderman Chris Jensen, who represents northeast Ward 3, to chair the Development, Planning and Zoning Committee.

He is taking the place of longtime Alderwoman Marti Deuter, who is becoming the Democratic state representative for the Elmhurst-based House District 45.

The council is set to vote on Jensen's appointment at Monday's meeting.

Jensen defeated two opponents in the 2021 election. In the April 1 election, he originally faced insurance agency owner Onkar Sangha, but Sangha withdrew.

Jensen has been a member of the Finance Committee, which is headed by Alderwoman Noel Talluto. The Public Safety and Public Works committees are led by aldermen Mike Brennan and Emily Bastedo, respectively.

The council consists of 14 members, with one vacancy because of Deuter's departure.
