Elmhurst Bar Theft At New Year's Celebration: Cops

In another case, officers responded to a domestic disturbance on New Year's Eve, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled a bar theft, a domestic disturbance, a sleeping person, an overdose, a fugitive driver, retail theft, check fraud and DUI. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Bar theft

  • People reported their jackets, wallet and keys were stolen between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. New Year's Day at Fitz's Pub, 172 N. Addison Ave. Two suspects have been identified. An investigation is pending.

Domestic disturbance

  • Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 11 p.m. on New Year's Eve in the 500 block of North Adele Street. A woman told officers that an argument turned physical when another person pushed her onto the bed and threatened her. An investigation is pending.

Sleeping person

  • A person was sleeping about 1:30 a.m. Monday outside Shell gas station, 218 E. Butterfield Road. The person refused to leave when requested and was served a no-trespass notice.

  • Officers responded to a woman's possible overdose about 12:30 a.m. New Year's Eve. She was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.

Fugitive driver

  • An officer tried to stop a silver Honda Accord about 10:30 p.m. on New Year's Eve near North and Emroy avenues. The car was last seen speeding north on Emroy. The car was later found at Holiday Inn Express in Bensenville. The suspects were arrested. An investigation is pending.

Retail theft

  • At Villa Park's Jewel, an Elmhurst officer found a red Saturn connected to a retail theft. The officer stopped the driver. In the car were two liquor bottles, which the suspects admitted to stealing at Villa Park's Jewel. Villa Park officers arrested the suspects. The driver was a 19-year-old woman from Oak Creek, Wisconsin.

Trespassing of car

  • A resident in the 200 block of North Oak Street told police about 5 a.m. on New Year's Day that her boyfriend took her car without permission. After the vehicle was found, she did not want a further investigation.

Check fraud

  • A resident in the 500 block of South Berkley Avenue told police on New Year's Day that she mailed two checks, but that someone forged and cashed them. An investigation is pending.

DUI

  • A 25-year-old Northlake woman was arrested about 12:30 a.m. New Year's Day at Indiana Street and North Avenue on charges of DUI, disobeying a stop sign, failing to yield to an emergency vehicle and being a driver unlawfully possessing marijuana. She was taken to the police station and then released.
