Elmhurst Bar Worker Slapped, Threatened: Cops

The victim got into an argument with the suspect's sister several weeks ago, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a bar worker's battery, fugitive drivers, found items, a violation of a man's pretrial release, a fall, damage, stolen lottery tickets and illegal dumping. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Bar worker battery

  • A man slapped an employee in the face and made threatening comments shortly before midnight Saturday at The Club Shot & Beer, 113 N. Addison Ave. The victim told police he got into an argument with the suspect's sister several weeks ago. An investigation is pending.

Fugitive drivers

  • About 11 p.m. Friday at Route 83 and Lake Street, an officer tried to stop a vehicle stolen in a carjacking in Willowbrook. The driver sped away, last seen near Irving Park and Mannheim roads.
  • An officer followed a speeding Dodge Charger about 4:30 a.m. Saturday near North and Clinton avenues. The officer lost sight of the car, which was stolen in Glen Ellyn.

Found items

  • A lunchbox, two backpacks and a brown jacket were found about 12:30 a.m. Saturday in the 100 block of West First Street. An identification card containing the owner's information was found. An attempt to contact the owner yielded no response. The items were placed into evidence for safekeeping.

Violation of pretrial release

  • A man was found to be violating his pretrial release about 9 p.m. Saturday at Elmhurst University, 190 S. Prospect Ave. He was barred from being within 3,000 feet of the victim's home.

Fall

  • Medics and officers responded to a man who fell and hit his head about 9:30 p.m. Saturday in the 600 block of West Belden Avenue. He was found to be drunk. He was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.

Damage

  • Four people damaged an inflatable Christmas decoration shortly before midnight Saturday at a house in the 600 block of South Hawthorne Avenue.

Lottery tickets stolen

  • A person stole several scratch-off lottery tickets about 2 a.m. Sunday at 7-Eleven, 155 E. First St. Upon investigation, police learned the suspect stole from several area convenience stores. An investigation is pending.

Illegal dumping

  • Someone illegally dumped a refrigerator, a dishwasher, cabinets and a kitchen sink next to garbage dumpsters about 4 p.m. Sunday at Eldridge Park, 363 W. Commonwealth Lane.

Unattended purse

  • A woman told police she left her purse unattended shortly before midnight Saturday at a Christmas Party at Elm West Banquets, 681 W. North Ave. She was later notified of an unauthorized charge to her debit card. An investigation is pending.
