Elmhurst Couple Helps With Student Lunch Debt
The money targets the local school with the highest rate of low-income students.

ELMHURST, IL – An Elmhurst couple has donated $1,000 to help reduce students' debt for lunches at Conrad Fischer Elementary School.
On Tuesday, the school board approved the contribution from residents Reid and Laura Stanton.
The money aims to help students who benefit from reduced-price lunches under the National School Lunch Program.

Last month, Reid Stanton filed a public records request with Elmhurst School District 205 for the outstanding debt under the reduced-price lunch and breakfast program.
At Conrad Fischer, 53 percent of students come from low-income families, according to the Illinois Report Card. That's the highest percentage of any local school and more than triple the district-wide rate.
