Elmhurst Crash Results In Domestic Battery Arrest: Cops

In another case, a man violated his release terms by contacting an Elmhurst woman, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving domestic battery, a violation of release terms, a dog bite, falls, retail theft and cemetery damage. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Domestic battery

  • A 19-year-old Hillside woman was arrested about 7:30 p.m. Monday on charges of domestic battery (two counts), reckless driving, driving a car while using a phone and unlawful possession of a weapon. Police said she struck a person with a white Kia Optima in the 300 block of South Cottage Hill Avenue. She was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

  • A 29-year-old Roselle man was arrested about 5:30 p.m. Monday on a charge of violating his pre-trial release terms. Police said he emailed the victim, a woman who lives in the 100 block of North Addison Avenue. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Dog bite

  • A woman told police that she was at her neighbor's house about 6 p.m. Monday in the 100 block of South Linden Avenue when her neighbor's dog, a retriever, jumped at her and bit her right arm, puncturing her skin. Medics treated her, but she declined to be taken to a hospital. The DuPage County Animal Services agency was notified.

  • A person fell about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at York Street and Robert Palmer Drive. The person was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.
  • A woman slipped on a sheet of ice and injured her left knee about 11 a.m. Wednesday in the 900 block of North York Street. She was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.

Retail theft

  • Three men stole merchandise about 9:30 p.m. Saturday at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83. The theft was reported three days later. An investigation is pending. The first man was described as black and wearing black shoes, jeans, a jean jacket and a winter hat. The second had brown curly hair and was wearing black sweatpants and a tan jacket. The third was white with a ponytail and beard and wearing a black hoodie and black shoes.

Cemetery damage

  • Five piles of vases were found about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in two areas of Mount Emblem Cemetery, 520 E. Grand Ave. The vases' chains were cut, but they didn't appear to have any other damage.
