Arvanitis won her first election in 2021. That was during the debates over remote schooling. She was one of the three candidates the Reopen D205 group endorsed.
In April 2023, Arvanitis was elected by her colleagues as the board's president. Over the summer, she removed the longest-serving member, Jim Collins, as the finance committee chairman, replacing him with member Kara Caforio.

Arvanitis is a former assistant principal at New Trier High School. She was with the school for nearly two decades before leaving in December 2022, according to her LinkedIn page.
Collins and Caforio have not submitted paperwork for the election, at least yet. Collins and Caforio started on the board in 2009 and 2017, respectively.
Brian Bresnahan ran for the school board in 2015 and finished last out of five candidates, who were vying for four seats. He has been a public school teacher.
Slowinski, who filed as a candidate in the 2021 school board election before dropping out, is listed on her LinkedIn page as the director of the Center for Learning at Advocate Health Care since 2011. She has a master's degree in health from the University of North Iowa.
Little information is available online about either Bresnahan or Slowinski.
