Elmhurst Dispute Over Whether Woman Should Drive: Cops
A family prevented a woman from going behind the wheel, fearing she was drunk, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving domestic disturbances, credit card fraud, fireworks, theft and a keyed car. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Domestic disturbances
- Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 8 p.m. Sunday in the 600 block of Linden Avenue. Police said a woman told them her family prevented her from leaving in a car because they were concerned she was drunk. She injured her wrist, but refused treatment from medics.
- Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 11 p.m. Saturday at Clarion Inn, 933 S. Riverside Drive. A woman told police that a man hit her during an argument. The man denied it. No arrests were made because of conflicting statements and no visible injuries.
Credit card fraud

- The Uptown Shop, 123 N. York St., reported that someone on Aug. 7 made an unauthorized charge on the company's credit card.
Fireworks
- A 19-year-old man was cited about 1:30 p.m. Friday at West and Madison avenues on a fireworks possession charge.
Gun submitted

- A resident in the 200 block of West Crescent Avenue turned in a gun for destruction Thursday.
Yelling
- A man told police that a man yelled at her about 11 a.m. Thursday as she drove by the 300 block of East Huntington Avenue.
Theft
- Someone stole chairs from a house between Aug. 7 and Aug. 14 in the 700 block of South Saylor Avenue.
- Police are looking into a theft allegation at the Target Sortation Center, 615 W. Lake St. It is believed to have occurred Aug. 11 or Aug. 12.
Keyed car
- A car was damaged with a key between 5 p.m. and 5:20 p.m. Thursday in the 400 block of North Oak Street.
