Elmhurst To Get 2nd Indian Restaurant: City

It is set to replace a restaurant that closed unexpectedly because of a "broken water pipe."

ELMHURST, IL – Elmhurst is expected to get a second Indian food restaurant.

In its recent business update, the city government said Royal Indian Cuisine is expected to open soon at 691 N. York St., in the space of the old Christopher's Restaurant.

Elmhurst's existing Indian restaurant is Maharaj Indian Grill, 117 N. Addison Ave.

Patch is trying to get in touch with the owner of Royal Indian Cuisine about when the opening is planned.

In January, Christopher's closed unexpectedly. A sign on its door read, "Closed – Broken Water Pipe – Open Soon."

But the restaurant's Google listing at the time said it was "permanently closed." Its phone was not working.

Google Maps photos indicate the restaurant had been open for at least 14 years.
