The city is working in partnership with the Special Day Kids organization.
ELMHURST, IL — The city of Elmhurst, in partnership with the nonprofit organization Special Kids Day, is hosting “Special Kids Day: City Works!” It will be held at Elmhurst City Hall, 209 N. York St., from noon to 4 p.m. July 31.
The event will be designed to serve children and adults with special needs. According to the announcement on the city’s website, different city departments will provide demonstrations, hands-on activities, public safety tips and an opportunity for those with special needs to interact with city employees and elected officials.
Attendees will have the chance to learn from law enforcement, first responders, and the public works department. The Elmhurst History Museum will provide storytime in a quiet space. And Mayor Scott Levin will “take your ‘vote’ to find out some of the City’s favorites!”
