ELMHURST, IL – An Elmhurst hotel that recently received a chronic nuisance warning from local police is for sale.

Clarion Inn Elmhurst and Waterford Conference Center, 933 S. Riverside Drive, is on the market for $12.5 million, according to LoopNet, a commercial real estate website.

The 104-room hotel is described as an "ideal location" for business and leisure travelers. It was built in 1975 and renovated in 2020, according to the website.

It is unclear when the hotel went on the market.

In late March, police issued a nuisance warning to the hotel. It was given 10 days to respond in writing to the city with a plan to eliminate the nuisance.

A local Clarion Inn executive did not return Patch's message for comment on Thursday.

The city identified no case that led to the warning.

Three weeks earlier, a man was charged with two counts of domestic battery at the hotel after hitting another person a few times, police said.

A few days later, a man was charged with drug possession after the hotel called police that the man refused to leave, according to a report.

In a February case, a man was arrested on charges of domestic battery, unlawful restraint and felony robbery at the hotel, police said. In the same incident, a woman was charged with violating an order of protection. She was found injured in a hotel room, police said.

Clarion Inn is the second Elmhurst hotel in recent times to receive such a warning

In January, Extended Stay America, 550 W. Grand Ave., got one. This was after a 40-year-old woman and two boys were accused of attacking a man driving near the hotel. The city connected the warning to that case.

If a property owner receives three or more nuisance warnings within 180 days, the owner may be charged under a city ordinance and appear before an administrative hearing officer.

If the property is found to be a chronic nuisance, the owner could be charged $500 to $1,000 for each violation.
