Elmhurst Man Accused Of Domestic Battery During Argument

In another case, an Elmhurst man who apparently became homeless has been charged repeatedly, police said.

A 41-year-old Elmhurst man who lives in the 800 block of South Swain Avenue was arrested about 10 a.m. Saturday at his home on two counts of domestic battery and interfering with the reporting of domestic violence, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police have handled cases involving domestic battery, an open fire, vandalism, scams, slashed tires, theft and DUI. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Domestic battery

  • A 41-year-old Elmhurst man who lives in the 800 block of South Swain Avenue was arrested about 10 a.m. Saturday at his home on two counts of domestic battery and interfering with the reporting of domestic violence. Police said the man became physical during an argument. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

  • A 38-year-old man, an Elmhurst man who is believed to be homeless was cited about 3 a.m. Sunday in the 900 block of South Kirk Avenue on an open burning charge. Police said he started a fire in a backyard. The previous day, he was charged with trespassing at Shell gas station, 218 E. Butterfield Road. He was also accused of trespassing at the station five days earlier.

Contributing to a minor's delinquency

  • A 51-year-old Elmhurst woman who lives in the 400 block of North Elm Avenue was cited about 9:30 p.m. Saturday at her home on a charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. She was released.

  • Someone defaced the chess table and restroom signs about 9 p.m. Thursday at Berens Park, 493 N. Oaklawn Ave.

Scam

  • A resident in the 200 block of North Myrtle Avenue told police Thursday she sent a stranger money for a camera advertised on Facebook Marketplace. She then realized it was a scam. She requested the money back, but the stranger threatened her.
  • A resident in the 700 block of South Parkside Avenue told police Thursday that her son was scammed on the computer and sent money to a stranger who was offering ways to make money using bitcoin.

Tires slashed

  • Tires were slashed on a car shortly after midnight Friday in the 400 block of East Adams Street. An investigation is pending.

Theft

  • A resident in the 200 block of North Oaklawn Avenue told police Saturday that someone left his outdoor water faucet on for a long time.

DUI

  • Pedro A. Cauhec Castro, 19, of Richmond, Virginia, was arrested about 11:30 p.m. Sunday at Route 83 and Lake Street on charges of aggravated DUI, obstructing identification, consumption of liquor by a minor, no valid driver's license and driving the wrong way on a one-way street. He was taken to the police station and then released.
  • A 43-year-old Chicago woman was arrested about 1 a.m. Sunday at Route 83 and Monroe Street on charges of DUI, improper lane usage and driving with a suspended license. She was taken to the police station and then released.
