Elmhurst Man Caught Scratching Woman's Car: Cops

In 2023, he was arrested after bothering a neighbor and damaging her door, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – An Elmhurst man scratched the hood of a woman's car using broken glass in the middle of the day last week, police said.

The 67-year-old, who lives in the 400 block of Van Auken Street, was arrested about 1:30 p.m. Saturday, police said. The incident was reported in the 200 block of North York Street.

The man, who was arrested on a criminal property damage charge, was taken to Elmhurst Hospital for an evaluation, police said.

In October 2023, the man was charged with criminal property damage and disorderly conduct.

Police said the man banged on a woman's front door in his block and damaged the screen and Halloween decorations. He was found and refused to follow officers' commands.

In another police report from last week, a woman alleged that her neighbor had been throwing garbage into her yard. It was unclear whether the neighbor was the 67-year-old man.
