Elmhurst Man Faces Domestic Battery Charge: Cops

He is accused of preventing a woman from calling 911, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving domestic battery, a disturbance, a thrown bottle, DUIs and a fugitive driver. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Domestic battery

  • A 33-year-old Elmhurst man who lives in the 300 block of North Myrtle Avenue was arrested about 11:30 a.m. Sunday at his home on charges of domestic battery and interfering with the reporting of domestic violence. Police said the man grabbed a woman's wrist during an argument, preventing her from calling 911. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Disturbance

  • Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 10:30 a.m. Sunday in the 1000 block of Eldridge Lane. Police said a couple was arguing over their relationship. The man, who wanted to leave, told officers that the woman threw several items at his car, causing dents, police said. The woman denied doing so.

Thrown bottle

  • A driver told police a stranger threw a glass bottle of chili sauce at his car about 10 p.m. Saturday at Portillo's, 155 S. Route 83. An investigation is pending.

DUI

  • A 61-year-old Maywood woman was arrested about 7 a.m. Saturday at St. Charles Road and Route 83 on charges of aggravated driving with a revoked license, driving an uninsured car and wearing no seatbelt. She was also wanted on a DeKalb County warrant. She was released.
  • A 53-year-old Chicago man was arrested about 2 a.m. Sunday at North Avenue and Michigan Street on charges of DUI and improper turn. He was taken to the police station and then released.

Fugitive driver

  • An officer tried to stop a car about 3 p.m. Saturday at North and Kenilworth avenues. The driver sped away, last seen traveling east on North Avenue.
