ELMHURST, IL – Elmhurst aldermen are voting Monday on whether to settle with a Cook County woman who was arrested in October 2023 on a drunken driving charge. Last August, Jolly Walls, a trucker, <a href="https://patch.com/illinois/elmhurst/trucker-sues-elmhurst-over-dui-arrest">sued the city in federal court</a>, asserting her arrest was based on an Elmhurst officer's false evaluation. Prosecutors later dropped the charge. This week, Walls signed a settlement agreement with the city. The pact would give her $5,000. Neither party would admit liability. Under the terms, Walls is barred from telling anyone about the agreement, except her attorneys and accountants. <a href="https://patch.com/illinois/elmhurst/trucker-sues-elmhurst-over-dui-arrest">Patch wrote about Walls' lawsuit last fall</a>.
