ELMHURST, IL – A 40-unit residential complex is planned at the edge of Elmhurst's downtown, a developer's lawyer said.

The attorney sent a letter dated June 19 to property owners within 500 feet of the project, which is listed at 117 W. Virginia St.

The letter was from Thomas Duffy of the Chicago-based McCarthy Duffy law firm. He identified the developer as Virginia 531 LLC.

The complex would be near Hawthorne Elementary School and IC Catholic Prep, a private high school.

In early June, Patch reported that a developer bought three properties in the 100 block of West Virginia Street. Two of the lots are vacant, while the other contains an older apartment building.

The letter said the complex would include 44 off-street parking spaces. It did not say whether the units would be apartments or condos.

"Please note the applicant is not seeking to change or purchase your property," Moore said in the letter.

The letter informed neighbors that a meeting was scheduled for Thursday evening at City Hall "to hear more and share your thoughts."

A little more than an hour before the meeting, Alderman Michael Bram, who represents the city's northeast side, posted the letter to his Facebook page.

The secretary of state's business database lists the manager of 531 Virginia LLC as Five Thirty One Partners LLC, which is at 5205 N. Bernard St. in Chicago. News stories indicate that the company is responsible for developments in Chicago.
