Elmhurst Police Step Up Super Bowl Weekend Traffic Enforcement

Elmhurst residents are asked to contact police if they see an impaired driver.

Elmhurst, IL - Extra police officers will be on patrol Super Bowl weekend, beginning Feb. 5, with a sharp eye out for impaired drivers and seatbelt violations in Elmhurst.

The extra patrols will take place at all hours over the weekend with a focus from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m., which is reportedly the deadliest window on Illinois roads, according to Elmhurst police.

Drivers are encouraged to drive safely and buckle up. Anyone planning to drink should make alternative arrangements to get home. Elmhurst residents are also asked to contact police if they see a driver who appears to be impaired.

These patrols are part of a year-long grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation, which aims to save lives by reducing fatal and serious crashes by enforcing DUI and seatbelt laws.
