Elmhurst Resident Fatally Struck by Metra Train
The collision took place Sunday night on the Union Pacific Railroad tracks.

Elmhurst, IL — Police are investigating the death of an Elmhurst man who was fatally hit by a Metra train at 11:13 p.m. June 19.
An outbound Metra train hit the man, identified as James P. Halwix, 79, as he stood on the Union Pacific Railroad tracks at Arlington Avenue, according to Elmhurst police.

Halwix died at the scene of the crash. Train traffic was affected "for a brief period of time," police reported, but normal train service was restored before the Monday morning rush hour.
The Investigatives Division of the Elmhurst Police Department is still investigating the collision.
