Elmhurst Residents Protest Trump Administration
More and more people are showing up for the weekly rallies, with over 350 showing up recently, organizers said.

ELMHURST, IL – For months, Elmhurst residents have assembled in front of City Hall to demonstrate against the Trump administration's policies, organizers said.
On April 19, organizers said more than 350 people marched through downtown, chanting and carrying signs.
Before the march, U.S. Rep. Jesus "Chuy" Garcia and DuPage County Board Chairman Deb Conroy, both Democrats, spoke.

The week before that, demonstrators took part in national "Hands Off" protests, objecting to what they said were the federal government's attempts to gut Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, consumer protections and individual rights, organizers said.
The rallies started at City Hall in February when a couple of people braved the cold weather. More and more joined in later weeks.

Progressives for Change became one of the sponsoring organizations.
The protests are scheduled to continue from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. every Saturday at City Hall.
In November's election, Trump lost virtually everywhere in Elmhurst. That's part of a national trend in which suburbs are becoming increasingly Democratic.
