Elmhurst Restaurant, Bar Business Up In Last Decade

ELMHURST, IL – Elmhurst's tax receipts show business at restaurants and bars has risen over the last decade.

Last year, the city collected $1.9 million in food and beverage tax income. In inflation-adjusted terms, that is 15 percent higher than the 2015 amount.

The tax collections dipped in 2020 because of the pandemic, but have increased since then.

The city enacted the 1 percent tax in 2003.

Burr Ridge has also seen a jump in its "place of eating" tax income over the last decade, while Darien's level has stayed about the same.
