Elmhurst Store Clerk Violated Liquor Law: Police
In another case, a stolen wallet at an Elmhurst gym resulted in attempted fraud, authorities said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving an illegal sale of alcohol, a wallet theft, a scam, a violation of a protection order, possession of a stolen car, DUI and a fugitive driver. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Illegal sale
- A 35-year-old employee was cited on a charge of selling alcohol to a minor under 21 about 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Williams Liquors & Tobacco, 925 S. York St.

- A man told police that someone stole his wallet about 2 p.m. Saturday at LA Fitness, 620 N. York St. Afterward, several attempted uses of the card were made. An investigation is pending.
Scam
- A woman in the 500 block of North Willow Road told police Saturday that she responded to a Facebook message about her babysitting service. She was sent two checks, which she deposited into her account. Then she made a withdrawal as the suspect's instruction. She then bought several Apple gift cards and provided the codes to the suspect.
Violation protection order

- A 40-year-old Elmhurst man who lives in the 400 block of West St. Charles Road was arrested about 8:30 a.m. Saturday at his home on a charge of violating an order of protection. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
Possession of stolen car
- Marissa Claeys, 32, of Chicago, was arrested about 10 p.m. Friday at Berteau and North avenues on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said the black Volkswagen Jetta she was driving was stolen in Northlake. She was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
DUI
- A 26-year-old Oak Lawn man was arrested about 10:30 p.m. New Year's Eve on a DUI charge. Police said he was arrested after a customer dispute at Clarion Inn, 933 S. Riverside Drive. He was taken to the police station and then released.
- A 35-year-old Elmhurst woman who lives in the 1100 block of Eldridge Lane was arrested about 2:30 a.m. Saturday at Brush Hill Road and Commonwealth Avenue on charges of DUI, possession of a controlled substance, improper lane usage and driving an uninsured car. She was taken to the police station and then released.
Fugitive driver
- About 3 p.m. Thursday, an officer tried to stop the driver of a black Dodge Charger that was believed to have fled officers in Wood Dale. The driver sped away, heading east on Interstate 290.
