Elmhurst Team May Play In World Series
The team won the district, sectional and state tournaments. Wednesday's game is set to be on ESPN.
ELMHURST, IL – Elmhurst Youth Baseball's 12-and-under team plays Wednesday afternoon for a shot at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
At 4 p.m., Elmhurst faces Ohio in the Great Lakes Regional Championship, according to an Elmhurst Youth Baseball news release. The game is set to be aired on ESPN.
The Elmhurst team won the district, sectional and state tournaments in Illinois before heading to Indiana to face teams from Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio.

According to the news release, Elmhurst's biggest challenge was in the Illinois sectional semifinal when it was down to its last out and behind one run before coming back to win 3-2 in an extra inning.
Elmhurst defeated perennial contenders Hinsdale 6-1 in the Illinois championship game on July 25 to win state. At this week's City Council meeting, Mayor Scott Levin joked that this victory was likely the local team's most satisfying.

The Elmhurst team got into the regional finals by beating Indiana and Ohio in the modified double-elimination tournament, the release said.
If Elmhurst wins Wednesday, it begins its quest for the Little League World Series Championship, which starts Sunday.
The local players are Patrick Boeh, Liam Campbell, Xander Escarpita, Reid Gabuzda, Liam Larma, Caleb Leynes, Dominic Martinello, Joey Pointon, Dominic Ramos, Charlie Rawleigh, Tanner Telford, Emmett Thompson and Micheal Wente. The manager is Edwin Ramos, and the coaches are Joe Boeh and Wayne Wente.
