Elmhurst Woman Steals Trump Sign: Cops

An officer spoke with the woman. The theft was on video, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – An Elmhurst woman was charged earlier this fall after stealing a sign for Donald Trump, police said.

Patch obtained the police report through a public records request.

The 19-year-old suspect lives in the 400 block of North Ridgeland Avenue, police said.

During the evening of Sept. 6, the woman and another person left her house and went to a neighbor's, where the woman stole the Trump sign from the front yard, police said.

The incident was documented on video, which the neighbor gave to the police, the report stated.

An officer went to the woman's house. She told the officer she knew he was there about the stolen sign, police said. The officer asked why she took it, but she did not explain, police said.

The woman described it as a "silly" mistake and that she was sorry, police said.

The woman was charged with theft under a local ordinance. She was released and given a no-trespass notice.
