False Robbery Report In Elmhurst Neighborhood

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a false robbery report, counterfeit bills, a domestic disturbance, a car burglary, theft and a fugitive driver. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

False report

  • Police responded to a report of a robbery about 9:30 a.m. Friday in the 200 block of South West Avenue. Officers determined no robbery took place at the address. The resident suspected that police received a fraudulent call from his neighbor.

Counterfeit bills

  • A man made two purchases with counterfeit bills about 5 p.m. Wednesday at Kilwins ice cream shop, 148 N. York St. An investigation is pending. The man was described as black, 20 to 30, and wearing a black North Face jacket, gray jeans and white shoes.
  • A person tried to buy two cards using fraudulent $100 and $50 bills about 2:30 p.m. Sunday at The Uptown Shop, 123 N. York St. The transactions were denied. The person left on foot.

Domestic disturbance

  • Police responded to a report of domestic battery about 8:30 a.m. Friday in the 100 block of North York Street. No arrests were made because of conflicting statements.

  • Someone stole two phone charging cords between Feb. 4 and Feb. 6 from the center console of a car in the 200 block of North Addison Avenue.

Theft

  • A man told police that someone stole his Apple iPhone 16 about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Portillo's, 155 S. Route 83. An investigation is pending.

Disturbance

  • A man repeatedly asked to buy alcohol from the bar and was denied about 1 a.m. Saturday at Clarion Inn, 933 S. Riverside Drive. The man was given a no-trespass notice. He collected his belongings and left.

Fugitive driver

  • An officer tried to stop a black Chevrolet Camaro without license plates about 1:30 a.m. Saturday at Interstate 290 and Lake Street. The driver sped away east on I-290.
