ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a threat at a family gathering, a crypto scam, an unconscious person, a stumbling drunk person, vehicle burglaries, a domestic disturbance, a stolen e-bike, an egging and a fugitive driver. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Threat at a family gathering

  • A man told police that someone threatened him about 12:30 p.m. Saturday at a family gathering in the 100 block of South York Street. The issue was reported two days later.

  • A resident in the 500 block of South Hawthorne Avenue reported Wednesday sending multiple payments over the last eight months to a person who claimed to work for a cryptocurrency investment firm. An investigation is pending.

Unconscious person

  • An unconscious person was found lying on the pavement about 10 a.m. Wednesday at York Street and Butterfield Road. The person was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.

  • A drunk person was seen stumbling on a sidewalk shortly before midnight Wednesday near North and Myrtle avenues. The person was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.

Vehicle burglaries

  • Rotech of Elmhurst, 747 N. Church Road, an oxygen equipment supplier, reported that someone burglarized several vehicles and removed various parts between 2:30 a.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. Monday. An investigation is pending.

Domestic disturbance

  • Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of East North Avenue. A person told police that an argument ensued over items that were being moved. Both parties agreed to separate for the night.

Discarded property

  • An employee found discarded property Wednesday in the city's public works garage, 985 S. Riverside Drive. It was entered into evidence.

Stolen e-bike

  • Someone cut a bicycle lock and stole an electric bicycle about 5 p.m. Wednesday near Panera Bread, 108 E. North Ave. An investigation is pending.

Egging

  • Teens drove past a driver and threw eggs at his car about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday at Berens Park, 493 N. Oaklawn Ave. An investigation is pending.

Fugitive driver

  • Police tried to stop a car about 7:30 a.m. Sunday at Interstate 290 and St. Charles Road, but the driver sped away. The car was used to flee from officers in Forest Park, police said.
