Fire Damages Garage In Elmhurst Neighborhood

Firefighters said they encountered heavy smoke and flames.

ELMHURST, IL – Elmhurst firefighters put out a garage fire in about 20 minutes Tuesday, according to a city news release.

About 5:30 p.m., firefighters found heavy smoke and flames from the detached garage in the 300 block of North Addison Avenue, the city said.

The fire was confined to the garage and the car inside, with the house sustaining minor damage, the news release said.

No injuries were reported. The city said the fire's cause remained under investigation.

Firefighters from Villa Park, Addison, York Center, Oakbrook Terrace, Hillside and Northlake were called to help.
