Gas Station Clerk Who Staged Abduction Pleads Guilty to Theft

Simone Boyd of Lombard pleaded guilty to theft Nov. 17 in DuPage County court.

Authorities believed Boyd, 21, was missing or abducted Sept. 22 after Elmhurst police were called at 5 a.m. to 654 West North Avenue to check on her, according to Elmhurst police.

Boyd and her boyfriend, Brandon Morris, 21 of Lombard, were found with money from the gas station and accused of staging a robbery and abduction.

Prosecutors dropped the other charges against Boyd when she pleaded guilty to the theft charges, according to the Chicago Tribune, and she received two years probation.

Boyd received credit for the 56 days of time served, court records show.
