ELMHURST, IL – A trucker told authorities last summer about a prostitute advertising her services at a local hotel, Elmhurst police said. Officers started investigating.

This week, Patch obtained the police report through a public records request.

On Aug. 5, an over-the-road trucker told police that he was at a sports bar with a co-worker when a woman offered her sexual services. Her place of work was Room 319 at Extended Stay America, which is at 550 W. Grand Ave. in Elmhurst, police said.

Shortly after, a detective arranged a meeting in Room 319 with a 30-year-old woman who went by the name "Maria."

The undercover detective went inside the room, while two officers stayed outside. When they heard the signal, the two officers, who were wearing vests with police markings, entered with a key card.

The woman, who was naked from the waist down, was told to put on some clothing, police said.

She was asked where she put the $120 that the undercover detective paid her. It was in a nightstand drawer. She was then arrested.

At the police station, the woman, who is from the Dominican Republic, told officers that she used to live in Florida, but moved to New York because of domestic-related issues. She then flew to Illinois, which she learned had many customers, police said.

The woman said she became Instagram "famous" while living in a shelter, police said. She wanted to make money to be able to move back to the Dominican Republic.

In an interview with officers, the woman said she used WhatsApp to communicate with another woman, who handles her schedule. The arrangement had been in place a couple of days, with "quick sex" costing $120, she told police.

The woman was charged with prostitution and then released.
