Elmhurst City Races See Competition
Three are vying for mayor. Several wards are already seeing competition.
ELMHURST, IL — As expected, Elmhurst aldermen Michael Bram, Scott Levin and Mark Mulliner filed their candidacies Monday for mayor in the April 6 election. Mayor Steve Morley, who has served for eight years, is not seeking re-election.
Candidates have until next Monday to turn in their petitions.
Incumbents Marti Deuter of Ward 1, Brian Cahill of Ward 4, Tina Park of Ward 5 and Michael Brennan of Ward 7 filed their bids for re-election, but have yet to draw any opponents.

In Ward 1, Jennifer Veremis, who was appointed earlier this year, is facing Susan Smentek and Kevin Flanagan for the two-year unexpired term.
In Ward 2, Jacob Hill, who was appointed last week, has drawn one opponent, Tristan Dacre.

In Ward 3, Nektarious Arvanitis is seeking the seat being vacated by mayoral candidate Bram, who has served for two decades.
In Ward 6, three people have filed for the seat held by Jim Kennedy for the last dozen years — Yeena Yoo, Emily Bastedo and Peter Dabertin. Asked by Patch on Monday whether he was running again, Kennedy said he was still considering it.
Jackie Haddad-Tamer, who was appointed as clerk earlier this year, is the only candidate so far for her position.
