Home Repair Fraud Alleged In Elmhurst
Police dealt with three such cases in the last few days. In one instance, four men were arrested.

ELMHURST, IL – Elmhurst police responded to three cases in the last few days involving alleged home repair fraud. Here is information from the reports:
- A 29-year-old Chicago man, a 27-year-old Chicago man, a 26-year-old Mount Prospect man and a 50-year-old Chicago man were arrested about 2 p.m. Tuesday on charges of attempted home repair fraud and attempted theft by deception with intent to deprive. Police said officers spotted a suspicious car and then watched four men get out and complete cement work at the victim's house at Sunset Avenue and Commonwealth Lane. After the suspects left, police said they learned the men had deceived the victim into paying for less than 30 minutes of substandard work. They were released.
- A resident in the 100 block of East Grantley Avenue told police that two suspects offered to repair his porch steps but started doing work that was not agreed upon. The suspects ultimately persuaded the resident to pay for the work. The incident occurred on the afternoon of July 13. It was reported nine days later.
- A resident in the 800 block of South Fairfield Avenue told police Wednesday that she hired a man to do work at her house, but he never returned to finish the work. An officer contacted the man, who said he didn't complete the job because the resident failed to get the necessary permits.
