Homeowner Confronts Burglar in Garage: Elmhurst Police
Two accused burglars reportedly used a garage door opener in an unlocked car to get inside a house.

Elmhurst, IL - Two people were arrested early Friday morning after a homeowner confronted a stranger in his attached garage.
Elmhurst police were called around 3:30 a.m. to the 300 block of Hill Street, and officers found a white Buick with a man in the driver's seat a short distance from the burglary confrontation, police reported.
The man, identified as Eddy J. Herrera, 18 of the 6400 block of 26th Street in Berwyn, said he had an accomplice who was out on foot.

A police K-9 found a 17-year-old boy hiding inside the attached garage of another home in the 300 block of Hill Street.
Police say the two people went into an unlocked car in the driveway of the first house and used the garage door opener to get inside the house.

The 17 year old then found a door was unlocked at a home a few houses down. He went inside while the residents slept and took cash and valuables before police caught him in the attached garage.
Herrera and the teenager were each charged with residential burglary, according to police.
