Letter: Marti Deuter Has What it Takes to Be Next 1st Ward Alderman

Candidates for the position of alderman should have the following characteristics:

• They should be honest, ethical and intelligent—and be independent thinkers.
• They should have experience in issues related to government, policy, budgets, contracts, goal setting and planning.
• They should be able to work collaboratively with the other members of City Council and with city employees.
• They should be able to devote the time to preparing for and attending the meetings of the City Council and all committees on which they serve, as well as being available to talk with and listen to their constituents.
• They should be organized and able to manage multiple tasks.
• They should always be thinking—first and foremost—about what is in the best interests of the residents of Elmhurst.

I believe that Marti Deuter has all of these characteristics, which is why, on April 9, I will be voting for Marti Deuter for 1st Ward Alderman.
