Letter: Why Couldn't Someone Besides an Alderman Have Run for Mayor?

I had hoped that someone besides an alderman would run for mayor. The city needs a mayor who knows how to manage our tax dollars. We have not had that for a long time.

We seem to have money for the wrong things, and when we need money for repairs we raise the taxes, same as the state does. We always have to adjust our home budgets to meet these needs, why can't our so-called smart aldermen do the same? I'm sure pot holes will be next, along with street repair, but let's save our money for School District 205. I am sure they need more money.

I have an idea. Let's cut the payroll so there is money for everything.

Why can't someone else run for mayor? The group we have will just keep things the same. Raising taxes is their answer to everything.
