Levin Wins Big Everywhere In Elmhurst
His opponent was seen as the conservative candidate in a town where Kamala Harris won virtually everywhere.

ELMHURST, IL – Elmhurst Mayor Scott Levin won in a landslide in every precinct in town in Tuesday's election.
Overall, Levin took 71 percent of the vote to former longtime Alderman Mark Mulliner's 29 percent.
Levin's best precincts were in the central part of town. His top-performing precinct – at 79 percent – is the neighborhood that includes part of downtown, bound by York Street, Park Avenue, Evergreen Avenue and North Avenue.

His lowest percentage – 56 percent – was in the only precinct that is on the west side of Route 83, jutting out into Villa Park. It includes the Pick subdivision.
Levin's numbers were high even in Elmhurst's southwest Ward 7, which Mulliner represented for 24 years until he was defeated for re-election in 2023.

Levin's overwhelming victory may be explained by Mulliner's conservative credentials. Like suburbs across the country, DuPage County has been moving to the Democratic column in recent years. In November, Kamala Harris beat Donald Trump in nearly all local precincts.
In 2022, Mulliner took part in a local parents' group that alleged Elmhurst School District 205 was teaching critical race theory and Marxism. He also joined an anti-face mask protest outside a local elementary school.
Mulliner's 2023 opponent, Rex Irby, told Patch after his victory that residents encouraged him to run because of concerns about Mulliner's pursuit of conservative causes.
At the same time, Mulliner never spoke about national political issues during City Council meetings.
In the 2021 mayoral election, Levin won with 41 percent of the vote to Alderman Michael Bram's 34 percent and Mulliner's 25 percent.
