Limo and Confetti Dreams Fulfilled for Long-time ICCP Teacher

Joe Schram feels the love from students, families, alumni and faculty on his last day of school Friday.

In grand fashion, IC Catholic Prep in Elmhurst bid farewell to long-time teacher Joe Schram at 7:25 a.m. Friday, May 10.

Schram, an English teacher at ICCP for 45 years, was delivered by limo to the school for his last day of classes. He was greeted by crowds of current students, faculty, families, friends and alumni, who lined the walkway of the high school for his grand entrance.

The limo and reception idea came from members of the ICCP Class of 1981, who recalled that every year, Schram told his departing seniors that on his last day, he wanted a limo to pick him up at home and drive him to school, where the walkway would be lined with his students throwing confetti as he entered the building.

So, indeed, that is what he got.
