Man Causes Ruckus In Elmhurst Restaurant: Cops
In another case, an Elmhurst man was charged with domestic battery.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a restaurant assault, domestic battery, a domestic disturbance, porch piracy, jewelry theft, check fraud, a fugitive driver and DUI. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Restaurant assault
- A 51-year-old Bensenville man was arrested about 7:30 p.m. Monday at Modern Plate restaurant, 119 N. York St., on charges of assault and disorderly conduct. Police said he made threats at the restaurant. He was released.

- A 29-year-old Elmhurst man who lives in the 500 block of West Avery Street was arrested about 7:30 p.m. Sunday on a domestic battery charge. Police said the man grabbed a woman by the hair at his house. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
Domestic disturbance
- Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 10 p.m. on Christmas Eve in the 200 block of South Kenmore Avenue. Police said people in the house argued. A woman said she wanted the police to serve a no-trespass notice to the suspect. An investigation is pending.

- Someone stole a delivered package about 9:30 a.m. Dec. 18 in the 900 block of South Colfax Avenue. The theft was reported five days later.
Pretrial release
- Police responded to a pretrial release issue about 10 p.m. Monday in the 500 block of West Belden Avenue. An investigation is pending.
Jewelry theft
- Jewelry was stolen from a home about 8 a.m. on Christmas Eve in the 400 block of West Butterfield Road. An investigation is pending.
Check fraud
- A resident in the 800 block of South Linden Avenue mailed a check Dec. 17 and later learned it was cashed for a different amount. The resident believed the check had been intercepted in the mail, forged and cashed by a stranger.
Fugitive driver
- Shortly before midnight on Christmas Day on St. Charles Road, an officer tried to stop a car that was reported stolen in Palatine. The driver sped away, last seen heading east on Interstate 290.
DUI
- A 56-year-old River Grove man was arrested about 1:30 a.m. on Christmas Eve at North Avenue and Shady Lane on charges of DUI, improper lane usage, failure to wear a seat belt, disobeying a traffic control signal (two counts) and transportation of open alcohol. He was taken to the police station and then released.
- A 44-year-old Niles man was arrested about 2 a.m. on Christmas Day at Route 83 and Third Avenue on charges of DUI, possession of a concealed gun while under the influence of alcohol, improper lane usage and failure to signal when changing lanes. He was taken to the police station and then released.
