Man With Loaded Gun In Elmhurst Library: Police

The man remains in the DuPage County Jail four days later.

ELMHURST, IL – A man sleeping in the men's restroom at the Elmhurst Public Library was found last week with a loaded gun, local police said.

Malachi D. Castner, 25, of Chicago, was charged with aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon (three counts), obstructing identification, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal trespass to a building.

The incident was reported at 9:08 p.m. Friday, a few minutes after the library closed for the night. It was unclear how long Castner had been in the library.

Castner was taken to the DuPage County Jail, where he remained as of Tuesday morning. Police said Castner was also wanted on four DuPage County warrants charging failure to appear in court.
