Extra train service will be provided on the BNSF Line from Aurora, the Union Pacific North Line from Kenosha, the Union Pacific Northwest Line from Harvard and the Union Pacific West Line from Elburn. Extra seating capacity will be made available on other lines. For more information about added service, please see the schedules that accompany this release or go to metrarail.com.

“We know it’s going to be a busy day in Chicago, so we’ve added service to four of our most heavily traveled lines to better accommodate all of the people we expect will travel into the city to attend the parade,” said Metra Executive Director/CEO Don Orseno. “Metra is a fast, convenient and easy way to get you there and our extra trains will make it even easier.”

The parade route is easily accessible through Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) connections from all five downtown Chicago train stations: Chicago Union Station, Ogilvie Transportation Center, LaSalle Street Station, Millennium Station and Van Buren Street Station.

Metra’s rideshare partners, Uber and Lyft, offer an option to get to and from all downtown Chicago train stations to the parade. If you’re new to rideshare programs, download the Uber app and enter promo code METRACHI for $10 off your first two rides (new users only). Customers who visit Lyft’s website and enter their phone number will also receive $10 off their first two rides. Both rideshare companies have programs that offer deeper discounts by sharing a ride. Visit their websites for details.

For your biggest savings, take advantage of Metra’s $8 Weekend Pass. Offering unlimited rides, the pass can be purchased on the train or via the Ventra app that you can download at the App Store or Google Play. As always, with Family Fares, up to three kids 11 and under can ride free with each adult.

Customers are advised that due to the anticipated crowds, Metra trains may not be able to accommodate bicycles. More information about Metra’s alcohol and bicycle polices is available at metrarail.com.
