Naked Person In Elmhurst Neighborhood Prompts Suspicion: Police

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving an unclothed person, a donation scam, disturbances, a dog bite and trespassing. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Unclothed person

  • Police were told a person was standing in the doorway of a house unclothed about 8:30 a.m. Thursday in the 700 block of North Van Auken Street. The person denied the allegation. No arrests were made because of conflicting statements and no secondary witnesses.

  • Three solicitors were accepting only credit card payments for donations mid-Friday afternoon outside Whole Foods, 215 S. Route 83. Officers found them in the parking lot, but they entered a car driven by a fourth person and left. The car was reported in a theft in Glenview, where the victim's card was overcharged. An investigation is pending. Around the suburbs, police have received reports of scammers seeking donations outside stores, accepting only credit card payments. Then victims find fraudulent charges on their cards.

Disturbance

  • A woman on Sunday entered the lobby of the police station to report arguing with a drunk man in their house in the 200 block of East Columbia Avenue. She wanted him to leave. The man denied any argument or fight. He refused to leave, but said there would be no further issues if the woman returned.
  • Officers responded to a disturbance call about 2 a.m. Saturday in the 300 block of Webster Avenue. Police could find no signs of a struggle or assault. The alleged victim refused to speak with officers and took an Uber home.

Dog bite

  • A man told police that he was walking his dog about 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the 200 block of South Monterey Avenue when the neighbor's dog got loose and bit him on the right hand. The owner said the dog got out of his collar, but she did not see it bite the victim. The man was treated at Elmhurst Hospital. DuPage County Animal Services was notified.

Trespassing

  • A man was frequently seen outside the Bank of America branch at 1000 S. York St. The bank asked that the man be served with a no-trespass notice. Police did so Thursday.
  • A person was escorted off campus by security and given a no-trespass notice about 2 p.m. Thursday at Elmhurst University, 190 S. Prospect Ave.
  • A person who had been given a no-trespass notice for Elmhurst Library, 125 S. Prospect Ave., returned about 6:30 p.m. Friday. The person left before an officer arrived.
  • A person loitered and drank alcohol about 7:30 p.m. Saturday outside Williams Liquors & Tobacco, 925 S. York St. The person was given a no-trespass notice.

Junked car?

  • Police tried to stop a gray Mercedes-Benz C-Class about 12:30 p.m. Friday at Butterfield Road and Prospect Avenue. The driver sped away. Police contacted the registered owner, who said the car was junked in December. An investigation is pending.
