New Downtown Elmhurst Restaurant Opening This Week: Official

The restaurant chain has 29 locations in 10 states, starting in Glenview in 2021.

ELMHURST, IL – A 2½-year-old corn dog restaurant chain is set to open its downtown Elmhurst location Thursday, an alderman announced Monday on Facebook.

Kong Dog is slated to open its doors at 5 p.m. at 113 E. Schiller St., Alderman Michael Bram said. It is set for the space where a Subway once was.

According to the chain's website, it has 29 restaurants in 10 states – Illinois, Indiana, Nebraska, Pennsylvania, New York, Massachusetts, North Carolina, New Jersey, Rhode Island and Virginia.

The restaurant in suburban Glenview was the first, opening in September 2021.

"Through word of mouth, people soon began lining up to try a new twist on an old favorite – The Corn Dog," the chain says on its website. "Soon after, the Kong Dog team realized they had something special on their hands & decided to carry the momentum by opening new locations."

The chain said it hopes to open more than 200 locations in five years.
