Pint-sized Playground Testers Give Washington Park the Thumbs Up

Parents have been inquiring about the opening of Washington Park all summer.

Elmhurst Park District has been true to its word that Washington Park, at Poplar and May streets, would be open by the end of August.

Well, the grand opening hasn't "officially" happened yet, but Elmhurst resident Clark Maxwell just happened to be walking by the park Friday when a construction worker removed the orange construction fence.

"There was a landscape architect there that helped design it," Maxwell said by email. "He hung around and watched the kids start playing."

Judging by these happy faces, the playground project is a success. Thank you, Clark, for sharing these photos.

The official ribbon cutting for the new Washington Park playground is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11.
