Reckless Drivers At Elmhurst Park Flee: Police

In other cases, drunk people were reported at a restaurant and the local university, among other places.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving reckless drivers, drunk people, dining and dashing, a domestic disturbance and a scam. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police blotter:

Reckless drivers

  • Several people were driving recklessly about 8 p.m. Sunday at Berens Park, 493 N. Oaklawn Ave. An officer tried to stop the drivers, but they fled.

  • Shortly before 8 p.m. Saturday, a drunk person refused to leave Manny's Ale House, 683 W. St. Charles Road. She was served a no-trespass notice.
  • A drunk person was reported unconscious about 11:30 p.m. Thursday at Elmhurst University, 190 S. Prospect Ave. The person was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.
  • Police were told about a drunk person about 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the 200 block of East Butterfield Road. The person was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.
  • A drunk person was found sleeping on a sidewalk about 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the 100 block of West Vallette Street.

Dine and dash

  • Three people fled about 8 p.m. Friday from Chipotle, 139 N. York St., after not paying for their food. An investigation is pending.

Domestic disturbance

  • Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 7:30 p.m. Friday in the 100 block of East Crestview Avenue. In a 911 call, police were told that one person was wrestling with another. Both people denied getting physical. No arrests were made because of conflicting statements and no visible injuries.

Scam

  • A resident in the 600 block of South Sunnyside Avenue told police Friday that he received a call from someone claiming to be with the police. The caller asked the resident to send money. The resident realized it was a scam, so he suffered no loss.

Found bike

  • A gray and green Diamondback men's bicycle was left abandoned Sunday at York Street and Prairie Path. The bike was placed into evidence for safekeeping. The person was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.
