Sandburg Bus Routes To Be Redrawn

ELMHURST, IL – Officials have seen issues with bus service for Elmhurst's Sandburg Middle School, so they want its routes redrawn.

"Over the summer, the plan is for (the bus contractor) to redo the middle school's routes, all three of them," said Chris Whelton, the school district's assistant superintendent of finance, said at this week's school board meeting. "We'll start them all over again, make them more efficient."

A school district shouldn't change bus routes often, he said.

"Those same routes have been going on for many years. There are older siblings... so everyone is kind of familiar with those routes," Whelton said.

Whelton made the comments during a discussion about next year's bus contracts. The district's main bus contractor is Cincinnati-based First Student.
