After a blistering heat wave and a couple of brief thunderstorms, Monday looks to be a pretty nice day, according to the National Weather Service. Expect sunny skies and a high of 85, with isolated thunderstorms (30 percent chance) in the afternoon. There's a chance of more rain Tuesday morning and afternoon, high of 81. Wednesday will be partly cloudy, high of 74; Thursday, sunny, high of 79; and Friday, cloudy, high of 81.

Selecting an Affordable College
Do you have kids that are getting ready to choose a college? Elmhurst Public Library is hosting a workshop on choosing a college, hosted by former Elmhurst resident Patti Pears, a nationally certified counselor who has toured more than 100 college campuses. She can help your child find the right fit at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 23.
Fun All Day Wednesday
Wednesdays have turned out to be one of the most fun days in Elmhurst. Start with the Elmhurst Farmers Market at York and Vallette from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., Then check out York Theatre's weekly family movie. This week, July 23, it's "Muppets From Space" at 10 a.m.—and it's only $1. Follow that up with live music and City Centre's Block to Block party, and Cool Cars Under the Stars at 6 p.m.
Shrek and Donkey rescue Princess Fiona in this classic tale, performed by Elmhurst Children's Theatre at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 24, at Visitation School, 851 S. York. Performances continue all weekend.
Bootsie's on the Loose
