Semitruck Hits Elmhurst Sound Wall

ELMHURST, IL – A semitruck struck a sound wall behind houses in an Elmhurst neighborhood Friday night, state police said.

Shortly after 8 p.m., the truck, which was carrying 35,000 pounds of paper products, overturned on the Interstate 290 eastbound ramp to Interstate 294, authorities said.

The driver and passenger were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries, police said.

The crash involved the wall behind the houses in the 600 block of South Edgewood Avenue.

The ramp was shut down for the cleanup and was reopened three hours later, police said.
